Practising as HPW Design-Zero-Drive they have a highly sustainable architectural approach that is sympathetic to the local area and landscape of each individual project. This Bioregional approach to sourcing site materials and embracing renewable energy systems is being applied
by HPW to visitor centre, retail, leisure and residential sites throughout the UK.
The practice has been awarded national, local, district and civic design awards for many projects including Bicester Avenue, Blooms of Bressingham visitor centre in Norfolk and a visitor/education centre at Atherstone in Warwickshire.
A significant number of Garden Centre related projects have been implemented, including the redevelopment of Dobbies Garden World, Ponteland, Northumberland, a sensitive design in the green belt adjacent to the national park using local architectural language, design and
materials. On a site at Atherstone near Nuneaton, a visitor centre has been constructed as a gateway to 56 acres of country park embracing and encouraging local wildlife and indigenous species. The scheme has received a Civic Design Award the first of its kind in Warwickshire.
