Bunting & Sons, one of Colchester’s oldest family businesses, established in 1820, has been working on plans to redevelop their redundant nursery site at Great Horkesley for a number of years.

Bunting & Sons has had a continuous business presence of nearly two centuries within the borough of Colchester. Throughout this time they have been engaged in rural businesses including horticulture and agriculture and have a deep affection for the local landscape area that will encompass Horkesley Park. A tremendous amount of research and planning has gone into preparing for the creation of Horkesley Park.  The Horkesley Park project team includes a number of specialist consultants and advisors who have contributed their expertise in their particular fields to the planning application.

In addition to thApproaching Horkesley Park along either the widened London Road or along the new pedestrian and cycle pathis team national specialist consultants, led by LDA Design, have worked hard to assess the scheme and complete Environmental Impact Assessments, studies and reports, summarised in an Environmental Statement, which are major components of the planning application.

These assessments and studies cover an extensive range of disciplines including: landscape and visual assessment; ecology and nature conservation; tourism; transportation; access and travel plans; socio-economics; ground conditions and contamination; noise and air quality; hydrology; drainage; flood risk assessment; lighting and archaeology.
