DPA Lighting Consultants was established in 1958 by Derek Phillips.  Having produced lighting design solutions across six different decades, the discipline appears to be widely recognised as a professional service in its own right.  Early commissions included The Mandarin Hotel in Hong Kong, Westminster Abbey and the original SS Oriana.  The practice with offices in Dubai, London, Oxfordshire and Japan has now completed around 5,000 projects in 60 different countries across the world’s continents.  

DPA’s work does not just include designing artificial lighting solutions for interior and exterior spaces and structure but encompasses lighting masterplanning, environmental impact reports, day and sun penetration studies and work as expert witnesses in the field of light.  Their designers emanate from a wide variety of backgrounds including architecture, theatrical lighting, product design, electrical engineering, urban design and interior design.
