Location
The Horkesley Park site extends to 47.4 hectares (117 acres) and is located in the parish of Great Horkesley within the Borough of Colchester in Essex near the Suffolk border.
It is immediately north of London Road and immediately west of the A134. Horkesley Park is easy and convenient to get to and from, with its vehicle and pedestrian entrances off London Road a few hundred metres from the A134 and just 2½ miles (4km) north of Colchester town outskirts bordering the A12. Ideally situated near to Colchester just off the A134, Horkesley Park is located on Bunting & Sons’ redundant tomato glasshouse nursery and industrial type buildings, the adjacent farm and parkland.
The make-up of and proposed changes to the Horkesley Park site are as follows:
Two areas of farmland, amounting to approximately 1.5 hectares (3.7 acres), which form part of the Horkesley Park Site run alongside the A134 and London Road. These will be used for road improvements and widening as well as for the creation of green
with pedestrian and cycle pathways.
A Travel Plan will include a number of initiatives to promote “green” travel such as plans for a shuttle bus between the site and Colchester bus and rail stations as well as facilities for cyclists, car sharing schemes and much, much more. The Location Map is available in a higher resolution for download in the More Info section.
